Rapidtron Inc. Signs a Memorandum of Understanding -MOU- with Smart Card Integrators Inc. to Combine Their Respective Smart Card Technologies for Increased Market Penetration
COSTA MESA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE[1])–Dec. 8, 2003–Rapidtron Inc. (OTCBB:RPDT), a provider of Radio Frequency (RF) smart card access control and ticketing/membership systems, and Smart Card Integrators Inc. (SCI) announced today they will work together to integrate their contact and contactless technologies, software and Smart Card products, thereby increasing the value, benefits and services for their respective customers. SCI is the provider of the smart cards containing their s-Choice(TM) Operating System and Electronic Purse used for Navy Cash(TM) and Marine Cash(SM) that allows Sailors and Marines to spend money on a ship using a smart card that stores and manages U.S. Dollar values.
Rapidtron Inc. will now be able to offer SCI’s s-Choice(TM) Operating System and Electronic Purse as an option within its current smart card and software package, a package that can be integrated with its customers existing back office software management systems, in fitness clubs, universities and colleges, winter resorts, amusement, and transportation. Likewise, SCI will be able to combine with Rapidtron to offer an integrated Smart Access System to its government and commercial customers.
John Creel, president of Rapidtron Inc. said: “The addition of SCI’s contact s-Choice(TM) Operating System and Electronic Purse software to our contactless smart card system will greatly increase our ability to move rapidly to convert fitness clubs, universities and resorts to smart card systems. Fitness clubs are losing considerable retail and value-added service revenues due to locker room theft and members not bringing their wallets into the club. This integrated solution will allow for cashless workouts, cashless resort visits and cashless university purchases in a secured and convenient system through the use of smart card technology.”
Francois Allal, president of Smart Card Integrators Inc., said: “We are pleased and excited to work with Rapidtron to combine both technologies, thereby adding significant value and acceptance to the integrated system, and we expect to achieve substantial market penetration in a variety of commercial and government markets.”
